JOB SUMMARY:

 

 

 

Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, industry and internal company policies and procedures.  Leads assessment projects in coordination with business owners to identify risks, evaluate internal controls, identify gaps and address risk or compliance concerns.

 

 

 

Responsible for managing continuous work of the SOC Reporting and Compliance Programs including making recommendations for improvements. Assist other business areas in evaluating risks and internal controls. 

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Independently plans and conducts reviews of internal controls and operating procedures of the organization.

  • Prepares reports on findings and recommends improvements in policies, procedures, and internal controls.

  • Assists outside auditors in audits of organization's operations.  Resolves issues and contributes to the business unit/area development.

  • Designs and implements a formal audit program including introduction of SOX requirements.

  • Assists in the design and implementation of a formal compliance reporting program.

  • Assist Legal Staff in the evaluation of (or make recommendation for) contracts or agreement language, and other documents.

  • Oversees and implements insurance program functions including recommendations for changes in coverage.

  • Work with insurance broker and carrier staff in the processing of insurance claims.

  • Works collaboratively to develop core documentation for a compliance data repository.

  • Assists in the development of annual risk-based assessment plans, audits, and reviews.

  • Participate in other projects or duties as assigned.

  • Occasional travel may be required.

     

     

    Evaluation and analysis activities focused on:              

  • Examination of critical processes and functions across the enterprise to ensure compliance with existing policies and procedures and identifying gaps in controls or procedures that create risk for the organization. 

  • Reporting on these examinations including recommendations for improvement and expectations for remediation.

  • Assessment of compliance with internal policies.

  • Assessment of the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls

  • Assist in determination of appropriate insurance coverages, manages insurance broker relationships and ensures the insurance renewal process is completed in a timely and effective manner.

  • Knowledge of AICPA SOC Reporting or other internal control framework required.

  • Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and testing preferred.

  • Lead or participate in other projects or duties as assigned.


 


 

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

  • Typically require six or more years of experience and at least one year of leadership responsibility.
  • Thorough knowledge of internal controls and associated frameworks.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.

  • Ability to manage job-related and personal stress effectively.

  • Ability to learn new skills quickly and apply judgment appropriately in problem solving.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Exceptional organization and planning skills.

  • Strong knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.


    EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

     

 

  • Minimum ten years experience in audit, compliance and/or risk management.

  • Degree in Accounting or equivalent

  • CPA and/or CISA preferred

  • Experience running project teams

  • Experience presenting to leadership
