KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

  • Superior communication (oral, written, presentation and facilitation) skills.
  • Ability to effectively represent/advocate Vertex’s interests and positions in a broad spectrum of forums, including speaking on panels at tax conferences and in small or large internal and external meetings.

  • Working knowledge of global tax regulations and legal concepts and the ability to relate these to current technology trends and needs.

  • Experience with compliance administration (facilitate information between Vertex and taxing authorities).
  • Understanding how customers would use Vertex products or equivalent product.
  • Knowledge of O series, leasing, L&Q and returns.
  • Experience in project management, estimation skills.
  • Experience effectively working in multi-jurisdictional/regions.
  • Experience utilizing time management and effectively communicating competing priorities.
  • Ability to interact effectively with internal customers. · Ability to apply professional concepts, experience and company objectives in order to perform an in-depth analysis of situations or data to resolve complex issues in creative ways.
  • Ability to work without supervision. Wide latitude for independent decision making.
  • Ability to network with key contacts outside own area of expertise.
  • Ability to listen and understand information and communicate the same.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Must be results oriented and customer focused.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
  • Sufficient knowledge of business communication, including telephone, voicemail, and e-mail and operations of office machines, such as photocopier, scanner, and fax.

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or other business discipline.
  • Advanced degree, law degree or professional certification a plus. Equivalent experience may substitute for some portion of the education requirement.
  • CPA or legal experience preferred.
  • 15+ years in a multi-jurisdictional environment.
  • Diverse industry or consulting experience required.
