We are seeking a Microsoft Technical/Product Manager to join our collaborative, business casual atmosphere. In this position you will be the owner for the technical alignment and evolution of Vertex tax solutions for Microsoft ERP/Cloud Platform initiatives as defined by Vertex Market Strategy. Responsible for driving market/technical requirements for the Microsoft/Vertex software integration layer (connector), including the configuration and extension of the Microsoft architecture, communicating the solution architecture, and providing guidance to software commercial development projects to ensure end-to-end business process compatibility that serves the entire global market. Focus is on the business relevance and technical application process flow between Vertex commercial products and Microsoft applications, including deployment and implementation of solutions. Additional responsibilities include knowledge transfer to customer service, supporting sales and consulting personnel in strategic sales and customer engagement opportunities. 
 
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:  
 
  • Microsoft Technical Product Lead for the Vertex/Microsoft partnership responsible for driving innovation through Vertex indirect global tax products. 
  • Engage Microsoft technical contacts on current and future initiatives and produce the following outcomes: 
  • Understand the Microsoft Integration enhancements and new initiative opportunities that feed into the Microsoft Integration/Product Roadmap. 
  • Identify/document the revenue generating opportunities in collaboration with Partner business development manager to drive new business case.  
  • Create requirements for feature and function for existing and new initiatives.  
  • Evaluate new Microsoft development technologies and software releases for their applicability toward the development of or incorporation into Vertex/SAP software solution. 
  • Assess Microsoft market size, opportunity and needs/desires and develop business justification (business case) as the basis to drive decision for product development 
  • Based on approved an business case, determining system/software connector requirements to satisfy those needs.  
  • Drive innovation through Microsoft software extension design and prototype solutions to feed Vertex product road maps. 
  • Provide technical, feature and functional requirements to differentiate Vertex/ Microsoft Connectors for current and future products.  
  • Enable/develop the knowledge transfer process to Vertex Consulting, Alliances and Support as necessary so that service and support can be rendered effectively regarding the connector products and meet organizational targets for revenue and client satisfaction. 
  • Facilitate interface problem resolution and escalation process – including the ability to participate on client calls and escalations. Typically, this involves communications with clients at the manager and director level. 
  • SME/ Product Owner function to Vertex product/program teams as necessary to coordinate planning efforts in alignment with SAP Partner connector strategy and represent that strategy through the Vertex operational model.  
  • SME to create/provide input to partner marketing messaging, positioning and value differentiation. 
  • Serve as SME for sales, business development, VC, Alliances, and Product Support. 
  • External Microsoft thought leadership  
  • Conference presentation, webinar, etc. 
  • Support go-to-market activities - Launch activities, support, internal/external training, etc.

Education & Training: 

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Computer Science, or related discipline.  
  • Master’s degree (MS) in computer science or equivalent experience is preferred. 
  • ERP, Tax/Tax Technology or Tax Professional Certifications and/ or Credentials recommended. 
  • Ten or more years’ experience in Microsoft software development and/or implementation   
  • Strong technical and functional knowledge of Microsoft Great Plains (GP), Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, Dynamics 365 Business Central and Navision (Nav) 
  • Experience developing Microsoft solutions, structures/extensions which are understandable, robust, extensible, and scalable by utilizing: 
    • Dexterity 
    • C#/X++ 
    • C/AL 
  • Familiarity with Java, XML and REST 
  • Experience implementing full life cycle ERP/Tax applications (a plus) 
  • Understanding of Agile development process 
 
Specialized Knowledge & Skills: 
  • Experienced in identifying Market opportunities and translate them into product concepts, articulate value proposition, competitive differentiation and define commercialization strategies 
  • Capable to coordinated features across the portfolio of products within different line of business. 
  • Understanding of product lifecycle from definition to end of life. 
  • Experience working in teams and coordinating with external client relationships 
  • Experience developing relationships at the executive level required. 
  • Manage multiple, complex relationships successfully 
  • Ability to access customer and business expectations 
  • Ability to establish clear client objectives, approach, process and plan to achieve promised value of Vertex Indirect Tax solutions  
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and the ability to influence at all levels within the organization 
  • Strong working knowledge of Vertex O Series and Cloud (a plus) 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
